(More customer reviews)Pros:
Cheap.
Lots of connectors, cables, power adapters and headphones included.
Carrying case.
Has an SD card slot and USB connector for digital media.
Plays DVDs, CDs and _some_ digital media on USB sticks, drives, memory cards and burnable disks.
Supports jpg slide shows.
Screen flips over for tablet mode.
Built in battery for some cordless use time.
Cons:
Doesn't play VCDs or SVCDs.
Definitely doesn't play H.264 video.
Other video formats stored on data disks, USB devices or cards are hit or miss.
Might play XVID movies, might play MPEG4 movies, might not.
Instruction manual doesn't say what formats are supported.
Website doesn't say what formats are supported.
No long file name support for digital media.
Case looks like it might mount on headrest -- it doesn't. You'll need a separate mount for that.
Controls are unresponsive. As far as this device goes, it's fine for playing standard CDs and DVDs in the car. It plays burned disks too, so you don't have to risk your precious original Disney DVDs in a hot car. You'll need to connect it to the car stereo or other external amplifier since the speakers are a little weak for use in a moving vehicle. You'll probably need a headphone cable extender too -- the included one is about 6 feet, which might almost reach the stereo in the dash, but probably won't.
Supposedly it supports digital media on disk or memory card or USB stick/USB drive. But you have no way of knowing in advance what format of media will be supported until you try it. Even with two videos apparently encoded the same one might play, the other might not.
The idea of the extra media options is a good one: you'd think you could rip and compress a bunch of DVDs to one burnable disk or big flash drive for hours of back seat quiet from the kids. But you better try every video on the disk first. Then use more trial and error to figure out why some work and some don't. Then just give up on some. Also, shorten your filenames yourself like back in the DOS days so you don't have to guess what "DAD~~~1.AVI" is on the menu.
It is cheap. It has a lot of accessories. It potentially plays your digital media files. You will have to budget for rubber bands or a headrest kit and headphone extender for car use.
