I already own a Phillips multi-region DVD player and have been very impressed with it over several years, but I needed another so I could lend DVD's from the UK to friends whose DVD players played NTSC format only. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and just needed something simple. This player does the job, although it's quite slow to read disks, and occasionally throws up an erroneous "cannot read this disk format" before realizing 5 seconds later that it actually can! The digital display is difficult to interpret, especially after stopping and restarting with a scene selection. All in all, I recommend this product as a basic, no frills, HDMI-capable DVD player.
