I bought this at the same time I purchased my new HDTV, so I decided to skimp a little on the blu-ray player because of the costs I was already dealing with. Man what a mistake. When I plugged this into my TV, the first thing I noticed was that it took forever for each action to register. I have a Sony BDP-s570, and it could honestly run circles around the Insignia machine.
I loaded a blu-ray and it took a few minutes to start.
I decided to stop the playback to try Netflix. I hit return and a few minutes later I was back at the main screen.
I selected Netflix and loaded my instant queue to test a show. A few minutes later it was doing so.
I hit scroll a few times and it lagged so bad that it kept scrolling for a few minutes after I had put down the remote.
etc...
Overall, that was my experience with this machine. Coming from something top of the line to something at the bottom, I already wasn't expecting much, but my experiences with other blu-ray players from Toshiba, Panasonic, etc... were never this bad. I would recommend dishing out the extra cash to get a Sony blu-ray player because it's totally worth the money.
Oh, the construction quality and picture quality is nice. The construction and design of the remote is terrible, though.
